Christ Church URC in Clacton is holding a Silent Auction on Saturday 3rd May at 10.00am.

Here is what happens at a silent auction. Bidding at a Silent Auction is by numbers so that nobody knows who is bidding for what.  On entering the hall each person is given written instructions that includes their personal identification number. Each item for auction has a descriptive card with it.  If you wish to put in a bid for any item, you put your number on the description card with the amount you wish to pay for it. If someone else has already placed a bid on the card and you are prepared to give more, you can place your number under theirs with the amount you wish to pay.  The minimum bid for our auction for each lot is 50p unless otherwise stated.  Bids may be increased by 25p. Bidding with take place between 10.00am and 12.15pm.  At 12.15pm the highest bidder will be identified and that person will then pay for and collect the item.

Tendring Freecycle is a new branch of Freecycle.org which went live on 11th March 2006

Freecycle is an international organisation dedicated to reducing the amount of waste being disposed of in landfill sites.

The ethos is that one man's trash can be another man's treasure, and we hope that the residents of Tendring will embrace this idea and start Freecycling.
