The 4th Sunday in Lent was always known as Mothering Sunday. Nowdays it is more commonly referred to as Mother’s Day. Mothering Sunday was also known as Refreshment Sunday because the fasting rules for Lent were relaxed on that day. |

For those of you who are bothered by the neighbours cats coming into your garden to do their business, here are 20 ideas for you to try to stop them!!!! 1. Buy repellent pellets from garden centres that smell like citrus fruits, which apparently cats don't like. 2. Or you could use the real thing lemon or citrus peels work for a bit but you have to keep replacing them every three or four days 3. Plant Coleus Canina which emits a foul odour when a cat rubs itself against it which he will dislike. 4. Lion Manure - The pellets are soaked in real essence of lion dung and are then dried and sterilised. As cats are territorial, even the bravest of cats will retreat when they smell a lion has been there first! 5. Push small sticks into the ground so that 6 to 12 inches are sticking out of the ground like spikes. Should be close enough so that the cat can’t sit down to poo!!! 6. Get a dog. 7. Spray water at them, child’s super powered water gun is ideal. 8. Sprinkle black pepper & chilli around the garden, harmless to animals but an effective deterrent. 9. Get your own cat. 10. Place pine cones around near garden borders. 11. Plant geraniums, marigolds and petunias, cats apparently dislike those plants. 12. Grow spiky plants near areas you want to keep cats away from. 13. If you have bare soil cover it with gravel or slate chippings etc, it will discourage digging. 14. Place a small length of hosepipe in amongst your plants, cats and birds don't like snakes! 15. Invest in a bag of coffee (grounds), and spread around the garden 16. Plant some lavender. It works for some and smells divine and for some reason the cats hate it 17. Stand old CD’s in the flower border’s so the cat is scared off by its own refection 18. Fill an old lemonade bottle with water and place it in the flower border – works as above 19. Buy pet repellent spray from a DIY store. It is harmless to animals and children 20. Cat Deterrent - This deterrent is proven to stop cats from entering the garden by emitting a unique ultrasonic alarm. The alarm is triggered by the cat's movement and body heat as soon as it enters the protected area. Lion Manure and The Cat Deterrent can be brought from Crocus |
